About 622 Online High School

622 Online High School is located in North St. Paul, Minnesota, which is an eastern suburb of St. Paul. 622 Online began operating in 2021 as the third high school in Independent School District 622. The school is located at 2520 East 12th Ave., just north of Highway 36 and east of McKnight Road. 622 Online High School has an enrollment of 126 full-time students in grades 9-12. 622 Online High School operates on a six-period, trimester schedule.

Attendance Requirements

Students enrolled in 622 Online High School are expected to log into Schoology each school day to engage in learning activities asynchronously. Students will also have scheduled live instructional time with their teachers and are required to be present virtually for those synchronous sessions. Students must complete both of these attendance requirements in order to be marked present for each school day. 

Academic Partnerships

622 Online High School students who are applying for acceptance at courses offered in partnership with 622 Online, such as PSEO and 916, should still register for 18 credits through 622 Online. Decisions about acceptance to academic partnership programs are not made until after 622 Online registration is complete. If a student is accepted to one of these programs, their 622 Online registration and schedule will be adjusted retroactively.

Minimum Enrollment

622 Online High School students must register for 18 courses and 4 alternate courses each school year. Students must maintain enrollment in six courses each trimester. There is an exception for seniors who are in good standing; these students may opt to maintain enrollment in five courses instead of six each trimester.

Course Cancellation

There is a possibility that some courses listed in the registration guide may be canceled due to low enrollment or staff shortages. In the instance that a course is canceled, students’ alternative course selections will be utilized to complete their schedules 

Priority Enrollment

In some instances, more students register for a course than can be accommodated. In that case, decisions will be made about which students will be scheduled into the course. Generally, seniors and juniors will have first priority, especially for courses that are required for graduation.

Grading

622 Online High School uses both an unweighted and weighted grading scale. Unweighted grades, which account for most course offerings, are calculated using a 4.0 grading scale. Weighted grades are given for Post-Secondary Education Options (PSEO) courses taken while enrolled at 622 Online, as well as Advanced Placement (AP), College In The Schools (CIS), and PSEO courses transferred in from previous schools students attended. Weighted grades are calculated using a 5.0 scale. Each 622 Online student’s transcript contains an unweighted GPA, rank, and percentile and a weighted GPA, rank, and percentile.

Registration Guidance

Once selected, a course is to be continued for its duration. When registering, it is important for students to carefully plan their academic program - including alternates - to coincide with future plans, interests, aptitudes, and special abilities. Students should not sign up for a course intending to try it out and drop it if they do not like it. Before registering, students should discuss their course selection with their parents, guardians, teachers, and/or School Counselor or Dean of Students.

Course Level Variations

Based on prior academic achievement and testing levels, some students might be assigned to a different level of a course than what they originally requested. Individual Education Plans (IEP) IEPs may dictate student placement in specialized or alternate courses not listed in this registration guide. Students who have IEPs should register for their grade-level courses, and their case manager will make adjustments as appropriate.

Transfer Students

Credits earned in a previous school will be evaluated by the Dean of Students. Normally, a transfer student must meet the same graduation requirements as other students. However, special consideration is given when circumstances are such that the transfer makes this impossible. 

Early Graduation 

Students contemplating early graduation must consult the Dean of Students at least one trimester prior to the anticipated date of graduation.

Course Change Policy

Course offerings and teacher staffing for 622 Online are determined by initial student registration. In limited situations (see below), students may request a course change by emailing the Dean of Students. This request must be made prior to the first day of the trimester in order to be considered. Course change requests will be reviewed as they are received. Any changes that are approved will be visible in the student schedule in Student Portal and the courses will be available in Schoology the following day.

The following course change requests will be considered:

• Medical or physical restriction - documentation is required (for example - a student has a broken bone which prevents participation in phy ed)
• Computer error (for example - student is scheduled in English 9A and 9C, but not English 9B)
• Academic misplacement (for example - the student has not met the prerequisites for the course)
• PSEO - students must provide a copy of their college course schedule to the Dean of Students
• The change is recommended as a part of a student’s IEP or 504 plan

The following course change requests will NOT be considered:

• Student no longer wants to take a class that they registered for
• Student wants to move a class to a different trimester
• Student wants a different teacher
• Student wants to be in a class with a friend

622 Online Registration Procedures (New 622 Online Students)

We welcome new students and are excited that you are interested in attending 622 Online! If you plan to enroll with us for the 2025-2026 school year, please complete the registration steps above required for current 622 Online students. In addition to completing those steps, you will also need to fill out some enrollment paperwork (even if you are transferring from another school in District 622). Complete the enrollment paperwork that fits your current student status.

Postsecondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) 

PSEO allows 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students to attend college part- or full-time for both high school credit and college credit. Students must meet the PSEO admission requirements of the college or university that they are interested in attending. Admission requirements vary by college, as do admission deadlines. Applications are typically available in the later winter or early spring and can be obtained through the colleges’ and universities’ websites. Students interested in PSEO must also schedule an appointment with the Dean of Students to discuss scheduling, 622 Online High School’s PSEO procedures and to ensure that the PSEO courses they plan to take will meet 622 Online High School’s graduation requirements. Northeast Metro Career and Technical Center (916)

Northeast Metro Career and Technical Center courses, also known as 916 courses, are available to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. 916 courses are high school courses taken at Century College during a two-hour time block each day for the entire school year. Students have the opportunity to earn two elective credits per trimester. Students must apply for acceptance into a class in a specific career field as part of the 622 Online registration process in January 2026. Space is limited, so students are encouraged to apply early.
